It’s not a secret that families move. One of the major national moving companies takes a survey of where their clients are moving to and from. and they do this every year. Are you curious as to where American families are moving to, and coming from?
Where are Families Going?
Apparently, American families don’t want to live in the Northeast anymore. In fact, the Northeast had the highest concentration of households moving out. This was the the fifth year in a row that has happened.
Hey New Jersey! Congratulate yourselves, we were # 1 ! Will the last one to leave please turn out the lights.
What Other States?
Other states which had people moving out were, in order, Illinois, New York, Connecticut and Kansas. It seems that a lot of the outbound activity is attributed to Baby Boomers. I really can’t blame them for wanting to move to states with warmer climates and / or a lower cost of living after they retire.
Where To?
There’s probably a good reason why, but I don’t see it. South Dakota was the most popular state for households moving in. Next, in order, were Vermont, Oregon, Idaho and South Carolina.
