that it’s so difficult to show some homes. We don’t understand why sellers, and sometimes their agents, make it so difficult.
Difficult Appointments
Recently we were helping a couple to find a home, as we had just written a contract on their old house. One home we suggested they see was a challenge to get into. We called the listing agent to make an appointment, however, he was slow in returning our calls. When he finally responded, the time we requested was not a good time because they had a dog. We then tried for 3 different appointments. Finally, the agent told us they were having an open house on Sunday, We went there, and we wrote a contract.
No Lockbox
Another time, our client wanted to see 6 homes in 3 different adult communities. After making 5 appointments, I was told there is no lock box on the last one. I was told I would need to go to the listing agent’s office to get the key and return it when we finished. Her office was 20 – 25 minutes each way. We needed to show the 5 homes, and we had an appointment right after, I did’t have time to drive 40 minutes for the key. Consequently, we didn’t show that home. However, they purchased a different one.
Not Convenient
Other times we’ve been told that when the buyers are available and want to see the house “it’s not a convenient time” for the seller.
Do you think that maybe this could be the reason that the house has not been sold?
What’s The Solution?
Simply by installing a lock box, these issues are easily solved . A lock box will allow other Realtors to access the home. A lock boxes are secure, because they leave an electronic paper trail of who went into the home – and when.
When it’s time for you to sell, make it easy for Realtors to show your home to prospective buyers. Use this Key tip to help it happen.
